Principles

These are the commitments our software is built to keep. They are written plainly so that anyone can hold us to them, and each evaluation notice says exactly how far the current build goes.

It runs on your own devices

The goal is software you can run entirely on hardware you own. Some current evaluation features use a server we operate; the privacy notice for each build says which, and you can see when one is in use.

What it keeps is yours

Your notes, decisions and history are stored as plain files you can open, copy, move and delete with ordinary tools. Each evaluation notice explains how to retrieve or delete what a build stores.

It works with the tools you already use

It connects to the devices, apps and services you choose, and it leaves cleanly when you say so. No single provider is required for it to work, including us.

Nothing is sold, tracked or used for advertising

There is no advertising, no analytics and no crash reporting in what we ship. We do not use what you put in to train anything, and we choose providers whose terms say the same.

It should serve people who never asked for this

The measure of a good release is whether a person who does not care about the technology would want it on their phone. Power for experts is added underneath that, never instead of it.

It agrees to nothing without you

Every action leaves a record you can read: what was said, what was shared, and the reason it was taken. Anything that costs money, or speaks for you, waits for you first.
